Abstract
When acrylic double skin sheets had been successfully used in European greenhouse manufacture for 10 years, it occured to use in 1978 that we should test the material also in an extremely hot climate.
Therefore, in October 1979, we set up a 200-sq.m. experimental greenhouse in the desert of Kuwait.
This experiment turned out to be an important experience and provided us with interesting results; which promted the construction of a 4 000-sq.m. commercial greenhouse in the same area in the spring of 1982. All experience gained in the eperimental house is embodied in this four-span structure.
The market gardener uses hyproponics for his cucumber crop, and after almost 2 years in use his results have always been excellent, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
