Abstract
New Zealand exports 70% of it’s Rubus and Ribes fruit production.
Chemical tolerance levels vary between countries to such an extent that there are few universally acceptable chemicals.
This has forced New Zealand growers to adopt programmes which combine selective chemical use, pest and disease resistant varieties, and biological control measures.
Critical to the future success of achieving chemical pesticide free status is the control of Botrytis cinerea. A range of possible biological control agents is being examined.
