Abstract
Two cultivars of apple grafted on 9 different rootstocks or rootstock / interstock combinations were, evaluated for growth and yield and leaf nutrient composition (N,P,K, Ca, Mg, Mn and Fe ). The smallest trees of Delikates and Empire cvs were observed on Polish rootstocks: P 22 and P 16. These trees were also the most productive.
The rootstock had a significant effect on nutrient content of P, K, Mg in leaves of Delikates cv and N, P, Ca, Mg in leaves of Empire cv.
The B 9 rootstock seemed to be more effective in phosphorus absorption in both cvs.
There was also correlation beetven vigour of rootstock and calcium content in leaves of Empire cv: which was significantly higher in trees on B 9, P 16 and M 9. The results indicated that iron and manganesse content was more correlated with cultivars than with rootstocks.
