Abstract
In the national Center for leaf diagnostic of San Michele all’Adige Provincial Institute, a computer programme has been made to manage and interpret leaf analyses.
The Expert System technology (Artificial Intelligence) has been chosen to make the part that interprets leaf analyses.
It is founded upon the basic ideas of the "physiological method" for leaf analysis interpretation and upon the expertise and knowledge drawn from the information collected in the leaf analysis data bank.
The programme, making the nutritional status diagnosis, tries to emulate a human expert.
The Expert System language characteristics allow to update easily the programme when the know-how in leaf diagnosis increases.
