Abstract
The effects of potassium fertilization at different rates in red currant plants cv.
Erstling aus Vierlanden (Ribes petraeum Wulf.) were studied in the years 1985–1989. With increasing K fertilizer doses leaf K content increased and K deficiency symptoms were successively reduced.
This was accompanied by a progressive increase of yields.
Vegetative growth of plants was closely related to leaf K concentration; increasing K fertilizer doses resulted in successive increments of the total shoot length and the mean shoot length.
It has been observed that under the same edaphic conditions red currants definitely suffer more from K deficiency and respond more to K fertilization than sour cherry or apple trees.
