Abstract
A comparative study on fruit set induced by daily artificial self- and cross- pollination was undertaken on self- fertile Apulian almonds ‘Calò’, ‘Filippo Ceo’, ‘Genco’ and ‘Tuono’.Fruit sets were satisfactory and not statistically different on average and within the same cultivar according to the method (selfing or crossing). The results confirmed the possibility of growing Apulian self-fertile almonds in solid blocks, eliminating their dependence on cross-pollination.
