‘MASBOVERA’, ‘GLORIETA’ AND ‘FRANCOLI’, THREE NEW ALMOND VARIETIES FROM IRTA

Abstract
Three new almond varieties: ‘Masbovera’ (A-200), ‘Glorieta’ (A-205) and ‘Francoli’ (3–361), selected from crosses made in the years 1975 and 1976, have been recently registered and released from IRTA’s almond breeding programme.
Their main agronomic and commercial characteristics are presented in relation to some important cultivars.
These three varieties have some common outstanding features: late flowering, fruit quality (absence of double kernels, good kernel appearance and hard shell, 30 % kernel yield), high vigour and productivity, and easy tree training and pruning.
