Abstract
The aim of the study was to evaluate different degrees of sensitivity to low temperatures at different phenologic flower bud development stages.
Cultivars with different flowering times, originating from Italy, France and Russia (‘Pizzuta d’Avola’, ‘Genco’, ‘Tuono’, ‘Ferrragnes’, ‘Ferraduel’ and ‘Yaltano’) were studied.

Mixed twigs collected at different bud development stages (A, B, C-D, E and F) were kept outdoors as controls and compared with some twigs placeds in climatized chambers (temperatures -4 and -8°C). At time O and after 13 and 21 hours stereomicroscope anatomic observations were carried out on flower buds to identify and characterize any damage present.
In general, two typologies of anomalies were identified, mainly characterized by pistil and stamen browing and necrosis.
