UNUSUAL BEHAVIOUR OF GROWING POLLEN TUBES IN THE OVARY OF SOUR CHERRY

Abstract
Unusual behaviour of growing pollen tubes in different combinations of pollination was observed in the ovary of sour cherry.
This phenomenon was recorded both in the locule of the ovary and in the ovule itself.
It is usually followed by fluorescence of ovules, i.e. the loss of their viability.
The frequency of the phenomenon occurs in a relatively low percentage, but it results in the lack of fertilization.
In this way the unusual behaviour of growing pollen tubes in the ovary may affect the degree of fertility in sour cherry.
