Abstract
In this list, the fruit and seed set results of the (hand) crossings made by the members of the International Working Group on Pollination until 1995, are presented.
A list of the members of the working group and the used abbreviations are given hereafter.
The results mainly originate from hand crossings following the method described by S.J. Wertheim (this volume) or from crossings for breeding purposes.

The crops involved are apple, ornamental Malus, pear, plum, sweet and sour cherry.
Crossings with apple and ornamental Malus cultivars are mentioned separately.

In each line the female and male parent are given, followed by the year of the crossing, and the country and the institute (both abbreviated) where the crossing was performed.
The results comprise the number of fruits per 100 flowers (%) at harvest time or after June drop, and the number of good seeds per fruit.
When available, the results of a standard cultivar are given for comparison.
Results from self-pollination performed with own pollen or foreign pollen have not been mentioned seperately.
All the lists have been sorted on female parent, male parent and year.

A difficult factor in the compilation of the list is the occurrence of (former) selection numbers, synonyms, Trade Marks and/or wrong names.
It has been tried, to use the correct and original cultivar names.
With mutants, the results have been given under the name of the original cultivar, e.g. results with Regal Prince (syn.
Gala Must) are mentioned under Gala.

The list may be used for questions on suitability of a certain combination of cultivars in an orchard with regard to pollen (in)compatibility.
Of course, for good cross pollination flowering periods of adjacent cultivars should overlap sufficiently.
With each couple of cultivars in every country (small) differences between overlap can occur.
Therefore, it is necessary to consider the flowering periods per country/region.
A summary of observations on flowering periods of some well known cultivars in some European countries are also given in this volume.

The list is brought up to date annually.
Members of the group are therefore kindly requested to send in their results annually before the 1st of January.
The last update of the list has been done in October 1996, comprising the results of 1995.
