Abstract
The impact of sprinkler and drip irrigation on the strawberry growth and yield was examined in field experiments carried out during 1992–1995. Significant changes in the factors studied were observed.
In comparison with the non-irrigated plots, both sprinkler and drip irrigation brought about an increase in yield.
In comparison with the non-irrigated plots, both sprinkler and drip irrigation brought about an increase in yield.
The average fruit weight was significantly higher from the irrigated plots.
Big differences in crop quality were noted between irrigated and non-irrigated plants.
The results confirmed the potential of intensive strawberry production on very light soils with the use of irrigation.
The use of drip irrigation considerably decreased the amount of water used and maintained adequate moisture conditions for the strawberry plants.
