Abstract
The price of tomatoes in Poland is strongly modified by the time of harvest and for earliest fruits may be even 10 times higher as compared with the price in the middle of harvesting period.
Therefore all factors which influence earliness of tomatoes are of great interest to the growers.
With the introduction of plastic pots, new methods of transplants growing could be tested.
When deep and high capacity pots are used, the main limiting factor is light intensity which depends from the transplants spacing.
These two years experiments were planned to find out the optimum spacing of transplants produced for growing tomatoes in the open field.
