Abstract
Methods of in vitro propagation of bulbs and corms have been developed using (1) proliferation of axillary shoots, with or without basal adventitious shoots and (2) induction of adventitious shoots on explants of meristematic tissue.
The use of callus has mostly been avoided.

Gladiolus, Freesia and Iris form precocious axillary shoots on medium with BAP, Lillium and split plantlets of Narcissus and Hyacinthus produce a mixture of axillary and adventitious shoots on BAP and NAA.

Adventitious shoots may be induced by NAA or NAA plus BAP on the meristematic regions of scale, leaf and stem.

Genetically stable callus may be obtained from Freesia and from some cultivars of Lillium.
