Abstract
In this work, the fruit and tree characteristics of 31 fig genotypes selected from the Turkish Mediterranean region and fig cultivars from the southeastern Anatolia region were studied.
The bearing dates of Blastophaga psenes in fig fruits and parthenocarpic properties of fig genotypes and cultivars were investigated.
Regarding pomological analysis, the average fruit weight ranged between 21.17-69.25 g, fruit width was found to be between 31.91-50.88 mm, brix value was between 16.0-28.0%. Fruit samples were taken weekly during the development period and kept frozen at -20°C. The fruit bearing dates of the flowers were determined by examining these samples under stereo microscope.
Fruit buds of the main crop occurred between 15-30 March, buds developed on 20 April and Blastophaga pesenes had entered female fruits and pollination and fertilization had begun on 12 May.
Ostiolum was quite clear, ovary and style were also clear on 14 May, fruits ripened on 1 July.
For parthenocarpy determination, the main fruit crop were double bagged when they reached 5-6 mm diameter.
The seeds of the bagged fruits were tested for germination capability. 01-IN-48, 01-IN-51, 01-IN-52, 01-IN-53, 01-IN-54, 01-IN-55, 01-IN-56, 01-IN-57, 01-IN-58, 31-IN-01, 31-IN-05, 31-IN-06, 31-IN-07, 31-IN-11, 31-IN-12, 31-IN-13, 31-IN-16, 31-IN-17, 31-IN-19, 31-IN-24, 31-IM-02, 31-IM-10, 31-IM-15 genotypes and Küçük Kuyruklu Sarı, Yerli Beyaz (Suruç), Siyah Güzlük (Bozova Merkez), Kuyruklu Yeşil, Mut, Sultani (Halfeti), Yerli Beyaz (Akçakale), Alakuşu cultivars were determined to be parthenocarpic.
