Abstract
Leaf temperatures were recorded at intervals of 20 s with an infrared thermometer.
An temporary increase in leaf temperature of 3°C was typically recorded within the first few minutes after the withdrawal of the thermal screens.
This peak is observed in a single glass greenhouse with thermal screens, shading curtains and capillary benches.
The peak is not found in the same type of house with slatted benches, nor in a twin walled PMMA greenhouse without thermal screens, but with shading curtains and capillary benches.
