Abstract
Water condensation on the leaves of greenhouse grown plants is assumed to be harmful due to the risk of infections by fungi.
In order to detect when water condensation takes place, leaf temperature, dew point temperature and air humidity were recorded in 3 experimental greenhouses.
The houses were cladded with single glass, twin walled glass or twin walled PMMA. The experiment was performed in September 1983, when high air humidity levels prevailed.

Water condensation occurs whenever the leaf temperature is lower than the dew point temperature.
Typically this happens between midnight and sunrise.
The critical periods for water condensation were more frequent and lasted longer in the twin walled glasshouse as compared to the houses cladded with twin walled PMMA or single glass.
