Abstract
From early stages of flower opening (stage 1 and beyond), the petal epidermis shows merely cell enlargement, i.e. not accompanied by cell division, during subsequent flower development.
However, cell enlargement ceases before reaching proper size when visual disorders of physiological nature emerge in the corolla.
