Abstract
The only way to meet the increasing demand for F1 seeds is to use chemical castration saving most of the hand labour and providing high hybrid level.
The aim of our research is to investigate the applicability of 2-chloro-ethyl-phosphoun acid together with organic Zinc salts as chemical castrating agent on musk-and water-melon.
The addition of organic Zinc salts to 2-chloro-ethyl-phosphon acid significantly increases the ethylene content of the leaves also increasing the male flower-free period.
