Abstract
Fresh dessert table grapes are a popular fruit for local consumption and export from many tropical countries throughout the world.

Table Grapes have been grown in tropical lowland areas of such countries as Thailand, Indonesia, The Philippines, India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia for many years under a multiple, continuous cropping system, producing 2–3 crops per year.

Based on problems experienced in production, key areas for research are fruitfulness, control of excessive vine vigour, disease and pest control, rootstock and cultivar evaluation, pruning and support systems, apical dominance control, uniform maturity, bunch protection and control of bud break along with post-harvest management research.
These problems are addressed in the paper.

Market opportunities for the export of table grapes from both temperate and tropical areas are identified for S.E. Asia, Japan, U.S.A., Europe and the Middle East.
