Abstract
Currently, statistics on the planted areas, varieties, species, production, value, numbers of farmers etc. are difficult to find for temperate zone fruits grown in the tropics and sub-tropics throughout the world.

Thus it was decided at the Business Meeting of the TZFTS Group, held in Thailand during the Third International Workshop, that a determined effort be made to collect such statistics.
A crop survey form was drawn up and distributed to delegates for completion and return to the organizing committee in Thailand, so that statistics could be published in the Acta Proceedings.

While the overall response to the survey has been a little disappointing, published below are the responses received.
Thus a start has been made.

We would urge each and every country involved in the production of temperate zone fruits in the tropics and sub-tropics to respond to the survey.
Use can then be made of such data in exchanging information and germplasm and in convincing funding agencies to support research, development and future workshops, conferences, training etc.

For those countries who have not returned the crop survey form please complete at any early date and send to: Dr.
Suranant Subhadrabandhu, Head, Department Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University, Bangkhen, 10900. Bangkok, Thailand.

He will add to the current information and pass the information on to the secretariat.
