Abstract
Dormant seeds of 3 varieties of apple namely Indonesian, Anna, and Ein Shemer were exposed to 7 stratification temperatures.
They were treated in 5 periods and their effect on terminating rest by sowing in a natural growing environment was observed.
Seeds of Indonesian germinated best and most rapidly when stratified at temperatures ranging from 9°C to 12°C prior to germination.
Stratification for 45 to 60 days was most effective. 3°C to 6°C were the most effective storage temperatures for Anna and Ein Shemer seeds.
The highest percentage of germination occured after 90 days of stratification.
