Abstract
Under warm sub-tropical conditions, hydrogen cyanamide has the potential to advance flowering and fruit maturity and improve budbreak and spur production of young, vigorous grape vines.
Increased yields of cyanamide treated vines were due to increased spur production, a higher number of shoots per spur and increased bunches per shoot on spurs.
The degree of response to cyanamide varies with the species and cultivar of grape treated.
No adverse effects on growth or fruit quality were observed from treating the same vines with cyanamide each year for 3 years.
