RESEARCH IMPLICATIONS ARISING FROM THE USE OF A MANAGEMENT SYSTEM SUPPORTING KIWIFRUIT PRODUCERS

A kiwifruit management system is introduced and discussed in terms of economic benefits.
Comparing users and non-users of the system indicates a marginal benefit for the average user in their economic orchard surplus if the net price per tray is greater than $1.99. The paper suggests the initial co-ordination between researchers and consultants should be explored further in an attempt to achieve more effective procedures for setting research priorities and technology transfer.
The existing management system provides a starting point for research into the user, consultant, researcher relationship.
