Abstract
Since about thirty years the numerous chemicals were applied to stimulate branching of young fruit trees (Plich and Basak, 1978). During the last ten years benzyladenine (BA) in a mixture with gibberellins A4+7 (preparation Promalin) were used most frequently (Basak and Soczek, 1986). The stimulation of branching may be achieved due to the application of BA alone.
This substance as a preparation Paturyl 10 WSC is very effective in the enhancing of canopy formation in young apple trees (Buban et al., 1990). In the present paper Paturyl 10 WSC was tested in Polish conditiones to stimulate the branching of maiden apple trees in a nursery and in a young orchard.
