Abstract
Supply of paclobutrazol foliar sprays or by soil application during autumn increased the total number of shoots in the spring flush 1.6–2.7-fold, reduced the percentage of vegetative shoots and increased the percentage of pure, leafless inflorescences in ‘Shamouti’ orange trees.
Yields were not affected.
Spring treatments of lemon trees brought about up to 9-fold increase in the number of flowers in the mid-summer flush.
Yields were not affected.
Spring treatments of lemon trees brought about up to 9-fold increase in the number of flowers in the mid-summer flush.
Paclobutrazol sprays during spring retarded the excessive elongation of the vegetative summer flush in ‘Minneola’ tangelo.
However, such treatments caused significant reductions in fruit size and consequently overall yield.
The spring flush of the subsequent year still revealed a strong shift towards pure inflorescences.
