Abstract
Productive response of six primocane raspberry cultivars ("Autumn Bliss", "Fallred", "Heritage", "Scepter" and "Zeva" H.) was studied in order to know about the possibility of introducing this crop in the Central Plateau of Galicia as a complementary occupation in animal production farms.
Total production (1) and an average weight of 100 fruits (2) were recorded from 1987 to 1992. Differences in production and harvest periods depended greatly on current climatic conditions.
The ratio "(1)x(2)x10-4" is an indicator of the harvest yield potential and allows us to discriminate those cultivars with a low value, caused either by a low total harvest weight or by a low fruit weight which increases the harvest cost.
According to this ratio, it is possible to sum up that "September" has low interest at this location. "Autumn Bliss" is the outstanding cultivar over the rest which have similar response in these ecological conditions.
Concerning harvest periods it is possible to establish two groups: one with those varieties that complete the harvest period in our climatic conditions ("Autumn Bliss" and "Fallred") thus showing their productivity potential and other group including cultivars in which the harvest period is eventually limited by climatic conditions ("Heritage", "Scepter", "September", "Zeva" H.). To conclude, "Autumn Bliss" can be considered as the most interesting among the tested cultivars concerning production on this area.
