Abstract
In The Netherlands raspberries are only grown for the fresh market.
Therefore, growers have a great interest in advancing and delaying the harvest period.
An early harvest is obtained with early summer fruiting cultivars in glasshouses or plastic tunnels.
For a late harvest (August-November) primocane fruiting cultivars as well as specially raised and thereafter cold stored plants of summer fruiting cultivars are used.
Partly, both early and late raspberries are grown in pots.
This enables growers to grow 2 raspberry crops per year on the same site.
Trials proved that raspberry plants easily can be grown in the same pot for 3 years.
With primocane fruiting cultivars weaker plants can be replaced by splitted root systems of stronger plants.
For a late harvest the primocane fruiting cultivars give more reliable results than cold stored plants.
