Abstract
In 1991 two new Polish black currant cultivars: ‘Bona’ and ‘Ceres’ were released.
The first one ripens very early and bears big uniform berries.
The fruit are tasty because of low acids content, so they are suitable for fresh market.
The main advantage of ‘Ceres’ is field resistance to the ‘big bud’ mite (Cecidophyopsis ribis, Westw.). The berries ripen in the middle of harvest period, i.e. 1–2 days before ‘Roodknop’.
