Abstract
Sharka due to Plum pox virus (PPV) is the most important disease occurring on Prunus in Europe.
A programme has been developed in Bordeaux in order to precise the behaviour towards PPV of different Prunus species and interspecific hybrids.

Concerning rootstocks, ten clones of P. cerasifera, P. marianna or P. insititia, 32 hybrids between two clones of P. cerasifera and 33 interspecific hybrids (P. marianna x P. cerasifera) have been tested towards two strains of PPV:

PPV-D, an apricot strain from south eastern France.

PPV-M, a peach strain introduced from northern Greece.

The results obtained showed, over two years, the good behaviour of 2 clones of Prunus cerasifera. At the level of the different hybrids, the virus could be generally detected by DAS-ELISA even in the absence of symptoms.
There is some specific effect of the PPV-strains.

Concerning the plum varieties, different clones introduced from eastern European countries have been tested.
Three of them were naturally contaminated.
The other clones have been experimentally infected by PPV-M and PPV-D. The first results showed some tolerance in some varieties (no symptoms, positive reaction to DAS-ELISA).

The different methods to get a PPV genetic control are discussed.
