GROWTH AND CROPPING OF TWELVE PLUM CULTIVARS GRAFTED TO TWO ROOTSTOCKS
In the group of semi late ripening cvs: Cacanska Rana, Cacanska Lepotica, Cacanska Najbolja and Cacanska Rodna were compared with Polish cultivar – Dabrowice Prune.
In the late ripening plum group: Valor, Bluefre and Hybrid 589007 were compared with Stanley cv.
In the group of very late ripening cultivars: Empress and Oneida were compared with Anna Späth cv.
All the trees grafted on Prunus cerasifera seedlings, except very late ripening cultivars, had a 2–3 times bigger trunk cross section area and cumulative shoot length than these grafted on Wangenheim Prune seedlings.
The largest were trees of Cacanska Najbolja cv. grafted on Prunus cerasifera and the smallest Empress cv.
Wangenheim Prune seedlings used as rootstock significantly decreased growth vigor of all evaluated plum tree cultivars.
The biggest crop was obtained from the trees of Dabrowice Prune, Cacanska Najbolja, Cacanska Rodna and Bluefre (from 5,1 to 10,2 kg/tree). Crop from other cultivars fluctuated from 0,5 to 4,5 kg/tree.
Three year old trees of Stanley plum obtained from tissue culture did not start to bear fruit yet.
The highest index of productivity showed the following cvs: Cacanska Najbolja,
