RESEARCH ON THE EFFECT OF GRAPE GUARD DURING THE COLD STORAGE OF THOMPSON SEEDLESS CV.
The aim of the research was to determine the effects of slow release SO2 generators on the storability of Thompson Seedless cv. grown in Turkey.
Thompson Seedless were harvested from Manisa region.
They were packed with quick-release SO2 generators and transported to Ankara.
Then the quick-release SO2 generators were taken out and grapes were pre-cooled.
After that, slow release SO2 generators were placed with them and the grapes were stored at 0 °C and 90 – 95 % R.H. conditions.
The experiment was conducted in Randomized Plot Design and parameters like the appearance, flavour, stem and berry color, total soluble solid content, titratable acidity, SO2 residue, decay rate, and weight losses were measured at 15 days intervals at in order to determine the effect of slow-release SO2 generators on storability of Thompson Seedless cv.
As a result of this research, Thompson seedless could be well-stored for 105 days with a slow-release SO2 generator + perforated PE/6.8 and 10 kg and slow-release SO2 generator + unperforated PE/6.8 and 10 kg treatments.
