Abstract
C4 photosynthetic genes show dramatic expression with light illumination and also show exclusive cell specific expression.
They also have counterpart genes in C3 plant (C3 type gene) which are poorly expressed.
With these complex and dramatic expression regulations, we chose C4 photosynthetic genes as a model system to understand gene expression in plant.
We have already isolated and characterized C4 type genes for Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxylase (PEPCase) and Pyruvate, orthophosphate dikinase (PPDK) and C3 type gene for Pyruvate, orthophosphate dikinase (PPDK).

We have already isolated and characterized C4 type genes for Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxylase (PEPCase) and Pyruvate, orthophosphate dikinase (PPDK) and C3 type gene for Pyruvate, orthophosphate dikinase (PPDK).
Here we represent results of the characterization of interaction between cis (DNA) and trans (nuclear protein) factors from C3 plant and C4 plant.
The regulatory mechanism of both C3 type genes and C4 type genes are discussed.
