AN EXPERIMENTAL MODEL FOR LEAF TEMPERATURE OF GREENHOUSE-GROWN TOMATO

Abstract
Vegetation temperature is an important factor of the greenhouse climate due to its great effect on the heat, water and CO2 exchanges.
However, it is difficult to measure due to the fact that the leaves are distributed in different ways.
Based on a greenhouse dynamic energy balance model, a new experimental model for predicting the global vegetation temperature is proposed.
The sensitivity study of the vegetation temperature to the relevant parameters based on a simulation model and the multiple linear regression from measurements show that the interior air temperature and the inside global solar radiation are the most influential factors.
These two parameters can be measured easily and precisely and the resultant model adjusted using a single week of measurements gives a reasonable estimation of leaf temperature with a correlation R2 = 0.90. The regression model is further validated by four other weeks including different climate conditions with a regression R2 varying between 0.89 and 0.96.
