Abstract
Tomato production in unheated greenhouses is limited due to unfavourable climatic conditions.

The trial was carried out in a glasshouse at Ege University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Horticulture during the spring season of 1997. Seeds of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) cultivars Yaiza F1, 170 F1, Simge F1, 301 F1, Belgin F1, 225 F1 and Elif F1 were sown on the 26th of December, 1996 and planted on the 21st of February, 1997. During the trial, trusses were vibrated twice a week for 1–2 s at 10 a.m.
Plant elongation growth was stopped by topping above the 8th cluster.
In the experiment, pollen number and viability for each cluster, yield (kg.m-2) and fruit quality parameters (size, the total soluble solids, total dry matter content, titratable acidity, pH, vitamin C) were determined.
