Abstract
This study was carried out in early spring of 1996 in Antalya, Turkey.
Eggplant and pepper were grown in four high plastic tunnels with dimensions of 4.12 × 12 m to determine the effect of different coloured water tubes (control: clear PE tube, black PE tube, green PE tube and red PE tube) which were placed between double rows.
Eggplant and pepper were grown in four high plastic tunnels with dimensions of 4.12 × 12 m to determine the effect of different coloured water tubes (control: clear PE tube, black PE tube, green PE tube and red PE tube) which were placed between double rows.
The efficiency of energy collection by the water tubes was 17–45 % and 14–30 % in February and March respectively.
The highest energy yield was in transparent tubes on days with maximum solar radiation and in red tubes on days with minimum solar radiation.
The highest yield of eggplant and pepper were obtained with red and green water tubes respectively.
