STUDIES ON THE EFFECTS OF DELTA MIXTM AND ORGANIC MATTER ON GROWTH AND PRODUCTIVITY OF BEAN PLANTS GROWN UNDER CALCAREOUS SOIL CONDITIONS
Giza 3 to Delta mix™ on growth and productivity under calcareous soil conditions.
Seeds were sown on two dates (1st September 1996 and 21st February 1997). Delta mix™ (DM) was applied before planting at concentrations of 0, 100, 150 and 200 kg/feddan.
Plant growth parameters such as plant height, number of leaves, number of shoots and fresh and dry weight were recorded.
Pod quality was estimated by measuring percentage fibre and protein, and total carbohydrate content.
The results obtained showed that plant height, number of leaves and number of shoots were significantly changed by the different rates of Delta mixTM and different levels of organic matter and chemical fertilization rates.
Chemical analysis of pods showed significant differences for percentages of N, P, K, fiber %, protein % and total carbohydrate content when plants were treated with Delta mix™ It can be concluded that using Delta mixTM produced more vigorous plants and pods with higher N, P, K, protein and carbohydrate content.
Giza 3 variety showed better growth with higher quality of pods in response to Delta mixTM applications under calcareous soil conditions.
