Abstract
As opposed to direct sowing, production of seedlings of vegetable crops for transplanting is commonly practiced by vegetable growers.
This study was undertaken to determine the effects of humic acid on the growth of tomato and eggplant seedlings under greenhouse conditions.
The numbers, width and length of leaves, and length, diameter, fresh and dry weight of stems and roots were determined.
Different levels (50, 100, 150, 200 ml·l-1) of Humic Acid (HA) were applied to a peat medium after transplanting of seedlings of each species.
Four applications were made at 10-day intervals.
The highest results for leaf, stem and root growth were obtained with 50 and 100 ml·l-1 HA applications in tomato seedlings and 50,100,150 ml·l-1 HA treatments in eggplant seedlings as compared to the control.
