Abstract
Natural conditions of the Ukraine’s Prydnistrovs’ka-Prykarpathian region are exceptionnally favourable for growing Persian walnut. Due to it there are valuable form-populations of this crop in this area. Taking into consideration the perspective of growing Persian walnut in the mentioned region, the Prydnistrovs’ka Research Station of the Institute of Horticulture (UAAS, Kyiv) is carrying out investigations of the local genetic fund. 25 promise cultivars had been already singled out, 9 of them were included into the National Genetic Fund of Ukraine. They distinguish by high productivity mainly with lateral and apical fruit-bearing, tolerance to diseases and high nuts qualities. Kernel yields is over 50 per cent, the kernel is released easily, as a rule intact. At the Fourth International Walnut Symposium these cultivars were presented as natural samples.
