EFFECT OF DIFFERENT HYGRO-THERMIC ENVIRONMENTS ON GROWTH OF POTTED WALNUT GRAFTED SEEDLINGS

Abstract
Grafting technique of potted walnut seedlings is not so common but, when applied, it’s producing negative secondary effects on the growing of the plants. To stimulate the growth, one year old seedlings of walnut (Juglans regia L.) pot growing were top grafted and in the following year submitted to different environments: m 2×3 pvc tunnel fully closed; m 2×3 pvc tunnel sideways opened; outside conditions (control). Each environment was provided by an automatic micro-sprinkler irrigation system.
At the end of the growing season the experiment showed that:
– plant growth efficiency is positively influenced by increasing the relative humidity around the leaf apparatus;
– both tunnel treatments have positively influenced the stem height growing and the growth efficiency, especially the tunnel sideways opened;
– with respect to the outside growth plants, the photosynthesis activity resulted increased on the plants growth under the tunnel sideways opened and under the outside growing conditions.
