Abstract
Few studies exist on the nitrogenous needs of walnuts. The dynamics of nitrogen absorption during the year is even less well known. The object of this communication is to contribute to the determination of nitrogen needs of a young walnut orchard, by two complementary approaches: by the study of dynamic of nitrates in soil during the vegetative season; by measuring agronomic factors like vigour, production and walnut quality. More ever, the interest in utilisation of a nitrification delayer, to improve the availability of nitrogen in process of time and to decrease the loss of nitrates in soil, will be discussed.
