Abstract
The characters "fruit oil index" and "relative dry matter density" was suggested for prediction of essential oil yield in caraway "Carum carvi, L.". The two characters showed high determination coefficients and exhibited compensation in the high essential oil yielding genotype 1.4.36. Analysis of variance and covariance, in negative and positive subtypes on essential oil content (%) basis expressed highly significant heritability percentages as well as genetic balance.
