Abstract
A correlation analysis of some economic characters of Salvia sclarea L. accessions from Bulgarian and foreign origin was carried out.
It was found that a negative correlation (r = -403) exists between the yield of fresh inflorescences and their content of essential oil, while the correlation between yield of inflorescences and linalyl acetate content in the essential oil is low and positive (r = 0.270).

A considerable negative correlation (r = -555) was discovered between essential oil content (%) of the inflorescences and the percentage of linalyl acetate in the essential oil.
The correlation between weight of inflorescences and number of flower bearing stalks per plant proved to be positive and quite high (r = 0.634). As compared to the late forms of Salvia sclarea, the early blooming ones had higher essential oil content, the correlation coefficient between earliness and essential oil content being -0.417.
