Abstract
The use of synthetic chemical fertilizers in micro gardening is very expensive and impacts the sanitary quality of vegetables.
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of vermicomposts from horse, cow, and poultry manure on lettuce growth.
Treatments for different doses are obtained by a mixture of sand and vermicompost.
These doses were tested in greenhouses on the agronomic parameters of lettuce.
Four treatments were compared to an NPK-based chemical control.
No toxicity of plant-raising treatments is observed except poultry manure.
Vermicompost treatments yielded better yields on wet weight, dry weight, leaf count and leaf surface compared to chemical control.
For each type of manure, the results show an optimal dose on the agronomic parameters of lettuce.
Vermicompost is an alternative to the use of synthetic chemical fertilizers.
