Abstract
Recent works show the important effects of soil temperature on the growth and development of tulips, iris, gladiolus and lead us to compare different soil and air heating systems in bulbous flowers cultures.
If we make the substitution of air heating by soil heating during the youth growth phase of the cultures, we get an equal precocity and quality of plants but we can save about 35 % of heating energy.
Adding air and soil heating decreases the quality of plants and increases the heating energy consumption (about 10 %).
