Abstract
Insulation materials in glasshouse walls result in a considerable reduction of energy consumption on the one hand, but on the other hand they seriously affect light transmission.
The effects of 4 wall insulation materials on flowering rate, fruit set and production of tomato have been assessed in two experiments.
The effects of 4 wall insulation materials on flowering rate, fruit set and production of tomato have been assessed in two experiments.
It appeared that the less the light is transmitted by the insulation material, the greater the loss is in production; flowering rate was hardly influenced.
The absolute differences in production increase as the radiation increases, so that greatest differences in production occur in summer.
The insulation material in the north wall has a less profound effect on the production than that in the south wall.
