Abstract
Soil warming has been realized circulating warm water in a pipe system either deepened in the soil or running on the surface.
Temperature was 22°C in the first case and 16°C in the second one.
Temperature was 22°C in the first case and 16°C in the second one.
The solution temperature in the NFT was 22°C. Two F1 tomatoes varieties Mariner and Samar were used for this experiment.
Temperature stimulate total dry weight of the plants mainly in the first period of growth.
A stimulating effect has been found on the leaf area too.
As far as production is concerned we found that total production, rather then earliness, is increased by temperature.
Temperature stimulate the vegetative phase of the plant and this may have a negative effect on fruit set of the first cluster.
