Abstract
Warming the roots of tomato seedlings increased growth, basipetal photosynthate translocation, photosynthesis and 32P-phosphorus uptake.
Root-zone warming exerts some control over seedling growth especially in the initial lag phase of growth.
Elevated root temperature (26.5°C) cannot compensate for lower air temperature (16°C).
