Abstract
The hemispheric solar greenhouse was shown to be 17% more efficient in intercepting light and to require less than 10% in energy for beating as compared to a conventional greenhouse.
Light penetration is particularly favored in the solar greenhouse when the angle of the sun is low : early in the morning, late in the afternoon and in the winter months.
Tomato yields were not significantly affected by the type of greenhouse but were favored at the highest density of population (4 plants/m2) in the solar greenhouse.
