Abstract
A dynamic model has been developed to simulate the microclimate of an Optical Liquid Filter greenhouse.
The model includes heat transfer by convection conduction and radiation and mass transfer by convection evaporation and condensation, and it uses the lumped heat capacity approach.
The greenhouse is divided into control volumes with the conservation of energy and mass laws yielding balance equations for each one.
The model includes heat transfer by convection conduction and radiation and mass transfer by convection evaporation and condensation, and it uses the lumped heat capacity approach.
The greenhouse is divided into control volumes with the conservation of energy and mass laws yielding balance equations for each one.
This model differs from other greenhouse models mainly in the fact that uniform temperature of the cover is not assumed.
An experimental Optical Liquid Filter greenhouse has been constructed.
A data acquisition system has been constructed and used to record the climate conditions outside the greenhouse, and the microclimate of the greenhouse itself.
The thermodynamic model for the Optical Liquid Filter greenhouse is solved numerically, using the outside climate conditions and construction data as input for the simulation program.
The greenhouse microclimate as calculated by the simulation program compares favorably with the measured values.
