Abstract
Moisture retention characteristics and some other properties of dry poplar leaves, creek sand, silvabark, raw turf, coarse and very coarse expanded perlite, and volcanic tuff were studied in comparison with a representative loamy soil.
It was determined that raw turf, poplar leaves and creek sand may require to be reclaimed; the media consisting less nutrients may be more reliable from a standpoint of fertilizing management.
Some media involved to be closely followed for reaction changes and for the application of irrigation and fertilization programs.
